Basic Strategy in Omaha

Omaha, sometimes called Omaha Hold' EM, is a derivative of Texas Hold' EM. Omaha is played with blinds and is generally played in two alternatives: Omaha High and Omaha High-Low Split (8 or better). Omaha High is played, in régle general, Pot Limit while Omaha High-Low Split (8 or better) is usually argument with fixed limits. This type of poker can become very complex, especially Omaha High, pot limit.

An important characteristic of Omaha strategy is that each player receives four private charts. The Ante Bonus

The ante bonus is paid even if the dealer beats your hand in poker. The ante bonus is also paid if the dealer does not qualify, which is an improvement over Caribbean Stud. If your hand is a straight or better, you are paid a bonus on your ante wager in accordance with the following schedule:

Let’s say your ante and play bets at are $10 each and you are dealt three- of-a-kind, but the dealer beats you with a straight flush poker room. Because the dealer has a better hand, you lose the ante and play bets; however, you still win a 4 to 1 bonus on the ante bet, which amounts to $40. Your net gain for this hand is $40 - $10 (ante) - $10 (play) = $20. Somehow, I am attracted to a game that pays off even when I have a losing hand!
The house edge for the above pay table is 3.4%. Inevitably, however, greed raises its ugly head and some casinos have modified the original pay table to reduce the payoffs. Some examples of these modified pay tables are shown below, along with their higher house edges. Of course, you should try to avoid playing at casinos that have less favorable pay tables.

The Pair Plus Bonus

The Pair Plus is a side betting that pays according to the value of your hand and is independent of the game itself. An unusual aspect of Three Card Poker is that the Pair Plus side bet can be played instead of the main game. That is, if a Pair Plus bet is placed, the ante bet becomes optional. If you placed a Pair Plus bet and are dealt a pair or better, you will be paid according to the following schedule. Anything less than a pair and you lose the Pair Plus wager (that’s why its called Pair Plus). On average, you can expect to get a paying Pair Plus hand about once in every four deals. If you don’t ante and only place a bet in the Pair Plus circle, you are essentially cutting the dealer out of the equation. The dealer’s hand becomes immaterial because you are strictly playing against the Pair Plus bonus pay table. The house edge for the above pay table is 2.3%. As for the Ante Bonus, some casinos have modified the original Pair Plus Bonus pay table to reduce the payoffs. Examples of modified pay tables are shown below, along with their higher house edges.
