Five Card Stud

Everyone who has watched TV and movies knows how to deal this one, so I’ll skip the mechanics. What to play in Five-Card Stud depends largely on the betting limits and the number of players in the game. In high-stakes action, it is best to fold unless you have an ace, a king, a pair, or two cards higher than 9. Some experts play by the 19 rule; that is, they fold whenever their first two cards don’t add up to at least 19 (counting face cards as 10 and aces as 11). An ace is a very good card in Five-Card Stud, and A-K or A-Q will sometimes win without improvement. But if you play an ace and a low card, it is by far better to have the ace in the hole. Poker Betting

Blinds are a common feature in Hold’em and are a way to get the betting going in a game. Blinds, as the name implies, are blind bets placed by the first two players to the dealer’s left before the players even look at their pocket cards. They function the same way as antes by making players invest in the game. The small blind”, is placed by the player directly to the dealer’s left and is usually smaller than the established minimum bet, but it can be the same. Omaha Hi Low

Either of these scales gives everyone plenty of excuse to stay, so that practically the only time a poker player drops out is when he has two very low cards in different suits. Now, since people are playing liberally, anybody with an ace or king in the hole or a pair back to back is going to raise on the first card. As a result, by the time the later cards are dealt there is so much money in the pot that no one who sees any possible chance of winning is going to drop out, while the players who have a good chance are going to raise back and forth. There were only a few clubs in the state then, but through the years The Kid consistently use strategy to beat practically every one of them. Lowball Game

We just stayed underneath the sports car until I heard a siren. I began to dislodge myself from my uncomfortable position, wedged between the ground and the tailpipe. But the siren faded. It was only a passing ambulance.
